Definition

  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Under a blizzard warning

We are also under a Level Two Snow warning - meaning no one is allowed out on the roads. There is so much snow on the ground, and it's supposed to continue like this until 4 pm. There's no way I'm going to be able to get out for a couple of days. Luckily I have plenty of food and booze. I may have to see if I can download the dreaded AutoCAD so I can finish my final project for that class. But I guess I have no excuse to not finish my projects! No one is going to bother me here.

I will go out and take some photos later. It's so peaceful out.

**Updated with some photos.

that's just craziness! it's kinda nice to have those days once a year or so, but if I remember correctly, I preferred those days in January and not March.

Of course, just to rub salt in an open wound, I woke up this morning & noticed that the cherry trees across the street have bloomed.

In addition to being peaceful, I know it's also beautiful there, I know. But dang! Where's spring!
